Getting the “buy in”: Fostering political will for social accountability initiatives
With Carmen Malena
Despite the proven track record of social accountability approaches, the lack of political will remains an obstacle. Without the support and “buy-in” of public officials and service providers, SAcc initiatives are unlikely to have significant or sustainable impact.
Why is political will for social accountability lacking? What can we, as citizens, civil society actors, elected representatives, and government officials, do to build broad-based support for SAcc? As practitioners, what specific actions can we take to foster political will for our initiatives?
This webinar will seek answers to these crucial questions. Carmen Malena will draw on case studies and first-hand experiences to share practical ideas about how to:
Understand the different elements and key influencing factors of political will, and
Formulate practical strategies and tactics to nurture political will.
Participants will also be invited to share their own experiences and lessons learned with regard to building political will for social accountability.
